Fans have known that the game would launch this holiday season, but this week Facebook and Oculus were finally able to set an exact release date: December 11.This follows up on the glimpses of Above and Beyond that EA and Respawn have given out this summer, which have teased a rather robust-looking narratively-driven World War 2 shooter built around a variety of VR experiences.Naturally, these will also include a large number of shootouts with different weapons from the era.All this time, it was assumed Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond would be exclusive to Oculus Rift headsets, but Facebook executive producer Mike Doran confirmed on Reddit that the game will also be available on Steam as well.
Better yet, he said that Steam users wont ever be required to create Facebook accounts to play the game. There will be a few restrictions, he said, as a lack of a Facebook account requirement on PC means PC players wont be able to send direct invites to Rift players, but they will be able to find one another in public matchmaking. But it coming from the companies mouth puts a damper on your will not return statement. I had posted this before, but in the wrong forum apparently, never scrolled far enough in the categories to realise that there was an Off Topic forum lol. Im talking about the 2010 and 2013 games, the original games were great, but were already in the WW era. They were the best modern warfare games that Ive ever played. The campaignstory was engaging, realistic, and overall really well done. I actually cared about the characters and what they went through, the depictions of what they did was close to the real thing. The environment, sound, weapon and costume design was all very believable. The gunplay and player movement actually felt like they had weight, and overall felt quite realistic, it was satisfying to just shoot a gun as you could feel the power that it had. Nothing felt floaty or arcadey, it was all well grounded and took skill to play. I doubt that EA would ever revive it on their own without there being a big demand for it, so thats what Im hoping to do, show that there are lots of people out there who loved those games and really want them to come back. Besides, Ive heard that many people who worked at Danger Close (devs of these two games) now work at DICE. If DICE could bring back Medal of Honor with the same feeling as it used to have, but with some of their own flair, then Id be more than happy. Dont get me wrong, I loved the original Medal of Honor games, they are what started me in the FPS genre, before that it was Spyro and Crash Bandicoot lol. I just feel like the newer reboot had much more of an impact and evoked emotion compared to MANY other shooters out there. EDIT: The only reason that Im posting this here is because its the only forum that Im a part of that makes sense. EA owns the Medal of Honor franchise, and it was similar to Battlefield in some ways. So maybe a big surprise at EA Play next month To be quite frankly honest, I actually think theres a bigger chance of MOH being brought back than what it may initially seem. Based on the size of the maps and the heavier emphasis on infantry gunplay, MOH is actually a better competitor to COD than BF, but lets not dive into that too much. ![]() They wont be bringing it back. Reviews for Warfighter were mixed to negative. Although the visuals and Frostbite 2 engine were praised, criticism was directed towards its poorly told and confusing storyline, idiotic AI, linear gameplay, and numerous bugs and glitches (even after the day one patch). ![]() Hilleman stated that while Medal of Honor could make a return, EAs focus would be on the Battlefield series.53. Right at the bottom of what you posted (which Ive read that article before) it says the chief creative officer said it could return, but focus is on battlefield. Could means there is a chance, however small that is only they know.
